Client Overview:
DC Flooring was appointed by Pexhurst, acting on behalf of Porsche, to carry out specialist concrete floor remediation and revitalisation works at the Purchas Road site. The client required a deep clean and enhancement of the existing concrete slab to restore its appearance and performance. Overall, the client was delighted with both the process and the final finish delivered by the DC Flooring team.
Challenge:
The primary challenge on this project was the scale of remedial works required. The initial scope allowed for the removal and infilling of approximately 10,000 bolts, however this figure increased significantly to 17,000 bolts once works were underway. Additional complexity came from operating alongside other trades, including roofing contractors and a netting team, requiring careful coordination to maintain progress and site safety.
Solution:
DC Flooring utilised an epoxy mortar system to infill the bolt removals, providing a robust and durable repair solution compatible with the existing slab. Once complete, the floor was polished to 400 grit using the DCF Express Polishing System, revitalising the surface and delivering a clean, consistent finish. Throughout the project, the team worked closely with the main contractor, Pexhurst, holding weekly progress meetings and safety briefings to ensure clear communication and programme alignment.
Outcome:
The finished floor met the functional and visual requirements of the project, delivering a solid and refreshed concrete surface. Despite the increased scope, the team worked efficiently and collaboratively to achieve programme deadlines. The outcome aligned well with the client’s expectations, both in terms of quality and overall execution.
Conclusion:
Strong planning and programme management were key factors in the success of this project. The experience reinforced the importance of clear structure, effective supervision, and close collaboration with other trades when working on complex, live construction environments.
